It is hoped that SimplyMEPIS release candidate, version 3.4-3 rc3 addresses the remaining major issues reported by the test community. Look for it in the testing subdirectory at the MEPIS Subscriber's Site and public mirrors. It is believed that all of the udev issues have been fixed in the OSCenter. By popular demand, install GRUB at root is an option during installation. The install tips were updated. All users were added to the lp group, this was needed for third party printer utilities.

La distro portatile tuttofare:
Using 2.6 Linux kernel with support for many SCSI devices; added KDE 3.5 and X.Org 7; added Squashfs 3.0 support, should be backwards compatible with 2.2; added newest Unionfs 1.1.2 which fixes many bugs but cause the following: 'uselivemod' doesn't work well and 'configrestore' is untested but should work; hard disk installer has been removed in this version.

La ottima DEB-based americana:
SimplyMEPIS release candidate, version 3.4-3 rc4 adds some last minute fixes. We plan for this to be FINAL. Further changes will be handled with in-line updates that will be available to everyone via the MEPIS pool. A typo was fixed that might help with non-root access to printers; meauto and the oscenter were modified to explicitly set the WEP key mode; udev was updated and this fixed most of the problems with floppy detection; Kplayer's file associations in KDE were minimized so Kplayer would not interfere with the other multimedia plugins....
